I hinted at this a little bit on the instagram, but I have been testing out the new Covergirl Clean Matte BB cream this week! Keep an eye out here for a thorough review. Also look out for that dupe review on Benefit’s Gimme Brow vs Essence Make Me Brow 😉
So I reviewed that beautiful red shade of the Essie Gel Couture last week. Last Sunday I applied a pretty sheer pink shade called Fairy Tailor(perfect for a professional look)– and it lasted through Saturday (yesterday– 6 full days :D) before I took it off. No chips, my nails were just growing out. This nail polish is officially a winner.
I keep hearing amazing things from the asian beauty community about snail essence…so when the CosRx Advanced 96 Snail Mucin Essence went on sale I pulled the trigger. 🐌 💁🏻 I’ll let you know how it goes! Thanks for the recommendation, @doglovesasianbeauty
As a medical student, I love it when beauty reviews and information is given with a good dose of science and well-reported research. I’ve been reading Kind of Stephen‘s weekly beauty recap to stay up to date on beauty news and as a cosmetic chemist, he has an incredible blog about beauty with a scientific twist. Recommended reading for any other fellow beauty nerds!
Friday was my last day on the TCU and leaving is certainly bittersweet. I learned a lot about medicine, particularly geriatric medicine. I loved how there was a full interdisciplinary care team that met every day and worked together for the patients, and I really felt like I was a part of the team. The nursing staff was awesome and made sure to call whenever something cool was happening so we wouldn’t miss it! They had a great crew and I will definitely miss them.
I am looking forward to transitioning back to a month on “regular” Internal Medicine, though. I have a shelf at the end of this 4-week block so it will be good to make sure I am covering all of my bases by seeing as many of the standard “bread and butter” cases as well. I have started using Step Up to Medicine and UWorld for Step 2 as my main “at home” resources, and then I bring Boards and Wards and IM Casefiles with me for when I have downtime in the hospital because they fit into my white coat pocket. Are there any other medical students out there that have advice on how to do well on the Internal Medicine shelf?
The one thing that is not so regular about this IM block is that I am on Night Float. That means that instead of showing up at 5:45am like I would for days, I will be reporting at 5pm and working Sundays-Thursdays– it will definitely be a schedule adjustment. I have a hardcore sleeping mask and earplugs coming in mail and melatonin at the ready. Does anyone have any other advice for reversing your schedule? Triple Shot of Beauty might need her triple-shot espresso drinks this month 😂.
This was another busy week! I think every day was >12hrs on so I was usually pretty pooped by the time I got home. I have purchased a membership to a local little fitness center that has barre, pilates, yoga, and aerobics classes so I am hoping to get more use from it this month. I’m working on finding more balance!
We made it out to Ithaca again this weekend to see another movie, this time The Hunt For The Wilderpeople. The movie was a ton of fun, with lots of off-beat humor and just enough sentiment. I don’t know, I’m no film critic or movie reviewer…I just do makeup. It was really good though. We saw it at Cinemopolis, a non-profit theater in Ithaca that has really delicious popcorn with real butter and lots of unique toppings (so far I can recommend the parmesan and Eastern spice). After a long week, it was great to have a date night.
You might notice some changes happening around the blog! Keep an eye out for the new logo and theme, and let me know what you think 🙂
