This week on the blog I posted about my new favorite mascara– I mean if you saw the before and after shot it totally speaks for itself. For this upcoming week, I am looking to do so posts about my skincare routine and also some of my favorite “smelly” products for this transitional time of year. I also got to try Scentbird, and am excited to give you all my full thoughts and a review on that subscription service.
In MAJOR new release news, Urban Decay announced that they are releasing an all matte palette called the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics in mid-September. This is one launch that I am actually pretty excited about; I wear matte shades every day for the hospital and clinic and it looks like it has a row of cooler tones and a row of warmer tones so it will be fairly versatile. Plus…I’ve been hoarding my Ulta points, so maybe this will be the palette that convinces me to “spend” them!
I’m all done with Internal Medicine! I think my shelf exam went pretty well. For anyone who is on internal medicine right now, or will be, I highly recommend using the Emma Holiday High Yield Internal Medicine reviews (I read the powerpoint first during down time on rotations, and then watched the video 2x before the shelf). They were great overarching reviews and I had several questions that covered topics that she discussed. It isn’t comprehensive, of course (you still need to probably read a book and do UWorld questions)… but its a fantastic free review.
I learned so much over three months but I am so excited to be able to start a new field, particularly one that I might be interested in pursuing for my specialty– Obstetrics and Gynecology. Unfortunately, I got the word on Friday that my housing for the away rotation I was scheduled to do fell through. Luckily, I have a very supportive home hospital that put me right into their OB schedule so I am all set to start “PM” labor and delivery on Monday! In fact, in a few hours, I have scrub training so that I will be all set to go into the operating room. Then I will have orientation in the morning, and then will start my actual shift this week at 5PM.
Any tips from anyone who has already done OB? I am definitely excited and want to do well.
I don’t have too much to report as far as exciting social life things this week! It was a week of studying for the shelf and wrapping up rotations…as well as intensely cleaning up the whole house on Saturday once we realized how dirty we had let it get after a few months of tough rotations. It feels so good to have a clean house again!
I did get the scrubs that I ordered last week in and I am so pleased that they totally fit! Of the two styles that I ordered, I definitely like the Cherokee pants better (softer material, elastic waitband, straighter leg = thumbs up). The color I got (wine) matched perfectly with the scrub top. I actually ended up ordering two more scrub sets in this style, in ciel and olive, since they actually fit! For reference, I am 4’11 and pretty small all around though a bit larger on bottom than top and the xxs petite bottoms and xxs top were perfect.
I also had a haircut scheduled for Friday right after my shelf exam and got some bangs cut! I am definitely still getting used to it since it totally changes up my whole look, but I really like it. It was enough of a change to keep me satisfied to be patient while the rest of my hair finally finishes growing out from the pixie length to collarbone-grazing which is the goal. In pixie grow out news, my stylish says my hair is officially all one length so I just need to grow it now! Whoooo!
And that’s all I’ve got for this week! I can’t wait to post back next week and let you know how L&D is going 🙂
How was your week?
