Beauty & Blogging
This week on the blog I wrote about my current skincare routine, as well as some of my favorite end-of-summer scents. I also did a quick review of the Scentbird subscription service! Spoiler: its a surprisingly fantastic value if you are into luxury perfumes and a great all-around product– I was very impressed.
On the note of skincare, I impulse ordered a full set of 11 Tony Moly I’m Real masks on Amazon for under $10. I’m definitely excited to try all of the varieties out and compare to see which ones work the best for me…but I seriously can’t believe that Sephora charges $7.50 per mask?! I’m working my way through them and keeping notes…so eventually watch out for a full fledged review. Or, you can grab the set yourself an try them with me! I am tweeting as I use them 🙂
I got some feedback this week that gave me an idea for a new regular skincare series for the blog. So if you are interested in the science of skincare (and maybe debunking or confirming a few marketing claims in the process)… stick with me!
As far as makeup goes, I’ve been obsessed with the Maybelline Creamy Matte lipsticks recently…would anyone be interested in some lip swatches? I’ve also been thinking about doing an All About Concealers post and I always have foundations to review. It is one of my favorite type of reviews to do! Are there any types of makeup posts that you all have been wanting?
PS I am still obsessed with that Heroine Make Mascara that I reviewed last week…I heard that the company makes a really awesome tubing mascara too, so that might have to be up sometime too.
This was my first week on OB/GYN and I am LOVING it! I spent this week on the Labor and Delivery evening shift and it was such a rewarding experience. I was able to assist in at least one delivery each day this week and those moms are incredible. From the medical side, it is amazing what the human body can do and I really love the excitement of a delivery as well as managing the things that need to happen afterwords. I also got to scrub in on a C-section this week which was a fantastic experience as well. Time to practice my running subcuticular stitch so I can close on one of the next ones 🙂
This upcoming week I will be working days (finally) in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinic. We will be seeing all high-risk pregnancy patients and I will get to see a lot of ultrasounds. I will have another surgery day coming up on Thursday– not sure what is on the schedule yet but I will keep you guys posted 😀
This specialty is going to be hard to beat.
By the way, thank you so much for all the love on my Instagram picture about OB this week– you guys made me feel awesome.
Yesterday the boyfriend and I escaped to Ithaca for the day. We started off with the Farmer’s Market which was wonderful– highly recommend to anyone in the area. I picked up two little basil plants that will hopefully be able to thrive in our kitchen and eventually make it into a few meals…lets hope Jonas doesn’t eat them!
The rest of the day was full of iced coffee and sweets, amazing craft cocktails at Mercato’s, a walk through the Cornell campus and the Herbert F. Johnson Art Museum, and an indie movie at Cinemopolis. It was totally a day of indulgence, but it was really nice to get out of town.
Speaking of leaving town, we will be heading to New Jersey next weekend to family for the first time in months! It is going to be so good to see them again. I think we will also be making a stop at one of the malls out there since we don’t have any good shopping around here to do some fall clothing shopping and of course a Sephora stop. I’ve been working on a “most wanted” list that I might just share in a post with you guys this week if you are interested!
I hope you all have an awesome week! Let me know what kind of posts you might be interested and what you think about the ones I mentioned earlier. I’d love to know about your thoughts all around.
Thank you all, as always, for reading!
