In exchange for an honest review, POPSUGAR offered to send me their September Must Have box to try out. POPSUGAR, the website you might now for their Facebook share-able articles, celebrity news, seasonal recipes, and makeup tips offers a subscription box. With so many subscription boxes on the market, I feel like you have to have a really good product to make it worth the buy. Keep reading to see what came in my box and whether I think it’s worth the price!
So my Must Have September box was huge! It came in a giant pink box that read”happiness delivered” on the inside when you opened it up. All of the products were wrapped quite prettily in tissue paper with stickers. Points for fun packaging!
My box contained:
- Jack & Lucy Bicoastal Wide Brim Hat– (suggested retail $58)
- NCLA Mani-ER Tool Kit– (suggested retail $16)
- Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask– (suggested retail $36)
- Flint Lint Roller– (suggested retail $9.99)
- Smith & Cult Lip Lacquer in The Warning– (suggested retail $22)
- The Gluten Free Bites, Dark Chocolate and Coconut Flavored– (suggested retail $4.99)
Total value by suggested retail = $146.98
Cost of each Must Have box = $39.95
Lets start with the good– I had three major hits in this box. I had really been wanting to try a Smith & Cult product with all of the hype from their nail polishes, and the lip gloss turned out to be this gorgeous medium-opacity red with very fine gold reflects. SO pretty. It has a slightly sticky texture, not enough to be bothersome but enough to help it hang on to your lips. Here’s a dopey selfie for reference:
The two other winners were the hair mask and the lint roller (of all things 😂). The Briogeo hair mask smells like a lovely tropical drink and is quite effective at moisturizing and leaving hair very shiny. The lint roller that the box came with is a normal lint roller…except that it retracts in and out of a metal sleeve, keeping lint from your bag or closet off of it so it can actually be stored in a purse! Brilliant!
As for the other three items in the box, I found them to be okay for me– nothing wrong in terms of quality but just not a great fit for my personal taste or needs. The NCLA Mani ER is actually super cute and the tools are great– I just already own a mini mani tool kit that I keep with me for travel so I didn’t need another one. The Gluten Free Bites were surprisingly yummy for a gluten free snack, and I appreciated that they included them for those who may have Celiac Disease. However, I probably would chose gluten-full snacks for myself when purchasing on my own since they tend to be less expensive. Last but not least was the big, black hat. It is actually a really fantastic hat, but I just don’t have the fashion guts to wear it! I am going to hold onto it for now in hopes that as my hair grows I might be able to work my way up to becoming the type of girl who wears hats. If not…my sister or one of my fashionable friends may be getting a super cute ‘hand me down’ because this hat is too awesome not to be worn.
One thing that I really appreciate about this box is that the suggested retail values of these items are actually what they are sold for in stores! Certain other subscription services have been caught falsely claiming higher values of the items in their box, so it was nice to see that the box was actually as good of a value as it seemed.
At $39.95, this is definitely one of the pricier subscription boxes. However, I really liked that it was a mix of makeup, haircare, snacks, fashion, and lifestyle items. Plus, the beauty items were full sized! Opening the box up felt like a special occasion and I had a lot of fun trying out all of the products for the review. This is one that I feel 100% comfortable recommending to you all, and I think it could also make a great gift to send to a friend as well!
The October box is available now…and here are a few spoilers from POPSUGARMH’s Instagram about what might be in it 🙂
I hope you all are having a great week!
